• Why do I have to pay for hosting?
Website hosting is a fixed cost when you own your own website. Whether I design your website, or someone else does, you will still be required to pay a monthly fee for hosting. If you're not familiar with hosting and what it is, look at it like this: Your website is a house, and your hosting is the land you put it on. It's a space on the web that will make your website accessible 24-7 to the web surfers online.
• Why are you doing this?
Well, I love doing band and artist websites. If I can do them 9-5 for the rest of my life I would, so this is my attempt to do that. Obviously I need income, so I'll be relying on your hosting orders from this website to help me out with that end of my
attempt. The hosting charges don't make me much, but enough for me to devote my time to other musicians and artists who need my services. I say 'other' musicians and artists, because I am also a musician (www.stephborel.com).
• How much is your hosting?
Steph Borel Design Hosting is $10.15/month. In order to be a client of Steph Borel Design and take part in this offer, the hosting is mandatory. If you'd like to keep your own hosting through another company, you may do so, however
there will be a one time $125 design fee.
• What is the process in detail?
1- Complete the sign up form, you will be directed to sign up for your hosting account once you click continue.
2- Once you've completed sign up, you will recieve your hosting information, your file wil be created, and you will be contacted when your website is going to be worked on.
Then your website will begin the design process detailed below:
-The first step of the design process, after gathering your information and suggestions, is to create a rough draft.
-I will then send you a link to this rough draft and you will respond with your likes and dislikes of the design along with what you would like changed. I will make those changes you suggest (if any) and send you a second rough draft. At this point, the design should be perfect. In order to avoid taking time away from other free website clients, any changes after the 2nd rough draft will incur charges ($10/hour) At this point your site is complete, and I will then send you an email with instructions about how to update your website.
I will NOT just hand you a website and say 'have a nice day'.
I am and will be your webmaster, and you are always welcome to email me with questions or submit a trouble ticket through your billing control panel!
Updates done by me will either be free or $10/hour depending on the complicity of the change/update.
• Do you do flash sites for free?
No. Because of the time it takes to create a flash website, we do not offer this design work for free. If you'd like a flash site done, please
visit our freelance website design site at www.stephboreldesign.com
• Can I see some of your work before accepting design work for free?
Sure. http://stephboreldesign.com.
You can click the "contact" link above to see some sites that have already been created through this project.
• Am I going to sign up for hosting and then be ditched when it comes to a website design?
NO. Please understand that there are other people signing up for this project as well. I will do my best to make sure everyone is tended to, but patience is virtue. My office phone is always turned on, and you can always give me a call if something is horribly wrong and you cannot wait for a returned email. The best thing to do is sign up immediately to get your file completed.
• What is your web design background?
I've been doing freelance website design for 7 years and counting. I attended Summit College in California and received my certificate in web design and desktop layout. I do web design because I'm pretty much a computer nerd,
and I this is what I love to do.
• Once my site is done, how will it be updated?
After your site is completed, you will receive an email from me with instructions on how to update and operate your website, which can be found in the knowledgebase forum in your billing account. For the most part, if there is an area of your website that I can make accessible for you to make changes to, i will definitly do that. The calendars, news, music mp3's, and pictures pages will be some of the things you will have the ability to change/add on your own. If at anytime you DO need me to help you update your site, you are welcome to submit a trouble ticket via your hosting billing account. If you're update is simple and takes a couple seconds to do, you will not be charged. If it takes some time and rework it will be $10/hour.
• I've signed up and ordered hosting, now what?
We will receive your information, create your file, and get to you as soon as we begin the design process of your website.
